“Another One Buffs the Dust”

This was a personal project that I created for one of my friends who graduated high school in May 2016. He was going to attend the University of Colorado Boulder, following his two older sisters who graduated from there. The theme of his graduation/party was “Another One Buffs the Dust,” hence the play off Queen’s song, “Another One Bites the Dust.”

One of his older sisters asked me to create a design for t-shirts the family was getting to wear at his high school graduation. My initial inspiration for the design was my “For-Ever-Green” t-shirt I had received during my freshman year of college.

For the artwork, I designed it in a circular design and used CU’s branded gold as the color in the design.

The design was on a black t-shirt, CU’s other color. The shirts were made and worn at my friend’s graduation ceremony.

Prior to my friend’s graduation, I learned that Snapchat users can now create their own custom filters for events. I thought it was a unique opportunity to take advantage of for the party. With my friend’s approval,  I modified the artwork to adapt to a Snapchat filter to use the day of the event.

Throughout the party, guests were encouraged to use the custom Snapchat filter, which made the party stand out among other graduation parties.
