For those of you that haven’t been keeping up with the fashion scene lately, Paris Couture Week has been going on for the last week. Designers from many large couture houses put forward their haute couture collections, garments unlike anything shown in their ready-to-wear collections.
Haute couture garments usually are hand-sewn and cost tens of thousands of dollars to purchase. That’s why designers like Rihanna can only afford to wear them for red carpet events (think her Giambattista Valli gown from the Grammy’s).
The overall theme with the garments was very romantic, and princess-like. There were many houses that showed airy garments in an elegant, romantic color scheme. Personally, I was a fan of just because I love the princess look (thanks, Elie and Zuhair).
Here are a few of my favorite looks from the shows from a variety of houses. I think they were all pretty great, but here were the ones that stood out to me (my favorite collection was Viktor & Rolf…so innovative!)
