Sleep Style + Nighttime Routine

In honor of January 3 being The Festival of Sleep Day, I thought I would do a quick post on my own night routine and sleep style. Festival of Sleep Day is a day to celebrate sleeping and relaxation after the hustle and bustle of the holidays. With the cold and snowy weather, it is a perfect time to just spend the day under the covers and catch some shut eye.

Before I hop into bed, showering is a must for me. I find it most efficient to shower the night before so my hair can dry overnight, ready to style in the morning. I also find it better to shower before bed so you go to bed clean and can get all the dirt and grim off that you collect from throughout the day. In the shower, I usually wash my face with my Clarisonic Mia face brush and a lathering cleanser. If anything, I would definitely recommend investing in one. They are worth the splurge! When I get out of the shower, I usually heavily moisturize with some kind of lotion. Since I live in Colorado, it’s much drier during the winter, so lotion is a must. Right now, I’m using St. Ives Daily Hydrating Vitamin E Body Lotion. I will then put on my pajamas, which is usually just a pair of loose lounge pants and a soft shirt. I put on my Mineral Fusion Revitalizing Eye Treatment, an all natural eye cream with Retin-A on the rest of my face. I will then brush my teeth and take out my contacts. If I don’t decide to dry my hair, I will put a dime sized amount of the OGX Penetrating Oil to the ends of my hair and comb through it with a wide tooth comb. If I decide to dry my hair, I will instead put a dime sized amount of the CHI Silk Infusion and wait until my hair is about 80% dry before drying it. Lastly, I will moisturize my face with my TilVee Antioxidant Ultra Hydrating Creme.

Right before I go to sleep, I will put on some hydrating lip balm and some foot and hand cream. I use the Burt’s Bees Honey and Shea Body Butter and apply it to both my feet and hands. This is super hydrating will stop any cracking and dryness in your skin overtime. I’m then ready for bed!

To bed, I actually don’t get super dressed up. I am all for super soft lounge pants, ones that are made of a knit material, rather than cotton so they don’t shrink up in the wash (it’s a pet peeve of mine to have pajama pants turn hi-water). I will usually pair it with one of those t-shirts that you collect from every and anything (I’m in college, what can I say?). The bottoms usually depend on the season, so in the winter, it’s usually pants, and in the summer, it’s shorts. I almost always wear a t-shirt so I don’t overheat while sleeping since I sleep with about four layers of blankets on my bed. One thing that I am starting to love is satin pajamas. I just think that they add an extra layer of elegance and chicness to pajamas. I personally love this leopard print pair from Target. Want to kick up your sleep style?
