European Fusion: Textile Designs & Technical Sketches

For the European Fusion brand project created for my apparel and digital technologies class, we were to create a series of textiles and technical sketches of the fabrics and garments we wanted to feature in our brand.

The colors and patterns emulated my inspiration of southern Europe coupled with Dolce and Gabbana’s spring 2014 collection.

I created a wide range of fabrics, including knits, wovens and patterns. These were created from scratch in Adobe Photoshop, beginning with building the pattern on an individual pixel level.

After the textiles were created, we moved to creating technical sketches for the types of garments we wanted to have in our line. We first hand-sketched our idea for the garments before translating then into a technical sketch. We executed the sketches in Adobe Illustrator.

I chose to do two tops with different silhouettes, a pencil skirt, a pair of ankle pants and a fur coat for my clothing items. The sketches features trimmings, stitches and seams, as they would on the physical garment.
